Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are always in the news for their on-again/off-again relationship and on Sunday the singer performed her hit song for Bieber, "The Heart Wants What it Wants" on the AMA stage and thanked Jesus after successfully getting through the emotional performance.

Both Gomez and Bieber have publicly confessed that they are Christians and after her heart felt performance at the AMA's it is clear that Gomez is holding on to her relationship with Jesus through her very public dysfunctional relationship with the pop star.

Gomez took to the stage without dancers or a band. The Disney star just stood center stage in a beautiful creamed gown and performed the honest words of her new single.

"I know I'm acting a bit crazy, Strung out, a little bit hazy, Hand over heart, I'm praying, That I'm gonna make it out alive," are some of the lyric's the performer sings during her performance.

Before the couple's latest split, they were reportedly seen attending Bible study and church services together. Nonetheless, Gomez took to social media with a post that alludes she is single again. If that is the case she appears to be leaning on Jesus to help her through.

"Sometimes we think we aren't good enough. But then I realize when I think I'm alone I have God," Gomez tweeted last month, "We have to learn the hard way sometimes."

She also posted a picture of herself reading the Bible last week on Instagram. Bieber likewise is always taking to social media to share his faith, and the singer reportedly recently attended a Christian retreat. Although the two cannot figure out what they want for their relationship together, they appear to draw strength from their Christian faith.
