“American Idol” Season 12: Top 10 Song Theme Revealed

If you enjoyed Angie Miller's rendition of Colton Dixon's "Never Gone" you should be excited about this Wednesday's "Music of the American Idols" theme. This week's Top 10 contestants will take the stage once again and perform songs previous Idol contestants have written and released during their careers.

If you're following Season 12 closely you'll probably know the girls are the frontrunners to win. That being said, we can probably expect one or more Kelly Clarkson tunes. Janelle Arthur and/or Kree Harrison have been careful to avoid comparisons from Idol country-phenom Carrie Underwood. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them take a crack at it.

Last year's winner Phillip Phillips will perform his latest single, "Gone, Gone, Gone" live on the results show Thursday. "Gone, Gone, Gone" will also be the "goodbye" song for American Idol Season 12, and will be featured each time a finalist is sent home by the voters.

Who knows, maybe we'll hear a contestant cover Phillips' post-Idol smash single, "Home."

This Wednesday's Top 10 episode will also feature the first of this year's group performances. The 10 singers will perform "Shine Your Way" a song written for the soundtrack of DreamWorks' upcoming animated film, The Croods.

Though Angie Miller, Kree Harrison and Janelle Arthur seem predictable it will be interesting to see if the other contestants choose the big hits from previous winners or do they throw a curveball with lesser known Idol alums.

Tune in for the next episode of American Idol Season 12 on Wednesday, March 13 from 8 to 10 p.m. EST
