Amanda Bynes Required by Judge & Doctors to Stay Under Psychiatric Care, 'She is Not Able to Care for Herself Yet' (VIDEO)

Amanda Bynes was under a 72 hour psychiatric hold that has lasted more than a week now and she will have to stay up to two weeks longer.

After hearing from Bynes lawyer and the doctors working with her, the judge has decided that she will have to stay under supervised watch as she is not able to 'care for herself yet'.

10 days ago, Bynes was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after reportedly starting a fire in a L.A. home driveway. She was questioned by police and then handed over to the doctors for a psych evaluation.

Amanda has been doing better with the variety of care and medications that she has been receiving while under care, but the main reason she is staying longer is because they say she is not convinced she has a real problem.

The doctors are saying she has clear signs of being a schizophrenic and that if she does not acknowledge that, she will stop taking her meds on her own. So they feel it is best to hold her for another 2 weeks. The judge wants Bynes to acknowledge she has a mental illness for more progress to be made.

Years ago, pop star Britney Spears was placed under a 5150 hold as well, but she was released after her 72 hour hold. So even at Spears worst, this gives off the impression that Amanda Bynes mental state is a more serious issue since they are keeping her under evaluation.

The longer Bynes is in the care of medical professionals, the better her chances of recovery and being OK in the end.

We still don't know for sure what she is dealing with but it seems more and more likely that her behavior is not the cause of mere substance abuse. Hopefully she is getting better in the hospital, even if she doesn't want to be there.

Bynes parents have spoken out about concern for her daughters well-being. They said they believe "a substantial amount of this money is being used to pay for marijuana and other illegal substances." They went on to say, "The goal is to get her treatment, either through the courts or some other way. That's the only goal."

Her mother is trying to become the conservator of Amanda's money as she has been spending recklessly in the last several months.
