Mo'Nique

Comedian turned actress Mo'Nique has been making her rounds in the media promoting her new film 'Black Bird' in which she plays a Christian mother that condemns her homosexual son for his sexual preference. During her promotional tour for the film she insistently is trying to get the church to love and embrace and not condemn homosexuals.

According to the Christian Post, Mo'Nique has admitted that she is not a Christian but believes in love. She just recently appeared on the breakfast club and maintained that the disconnect between the LGBT community and the church is "the issue of love."

"He's fighting with his sexuality because he's been raised in a strict Christian upbringing and it's a sin you're condemned to hell, you are a disgrace if you are a homosexual," Mo'Nique tells The Breakfast Club about the lead character in the film.

The films IMDB description reads, "A young singer struggles with his sexuality and the treatment of others while coming of age in a small Southern Baptist community."

The Queens of Comedy Comedian plays the boys mother. "His mother, the character that I play, is one of those women that she believes everything in the Bible, she believe everything on the pulpit. So for her to find out that her baby is gay... she thinks that little boy has disgraced the family, he's going to hell, he's the worst creature on the face of this earth," she continues to say in the interview.

Mo'Nique targets the fact that the majority of Christian believers hold to the scriptures found in the Bible that maintain Homosexually is a sin. See the Bible scriptures HERE.

The Oscar award-winning actress said that she hopes to change the culture. "It's one of those films that we believe will change hearts open minds and start different conversations in our churches," she stated" We hope this makes a difference."
