Aaron Gillespie 'Would Do a Ten Year Anniversary Tour without Hesitation' for UnderOath's 'They're Only Chasing Safety' Album (LISTEN HERE)

Aaron Gillespie is most known for his work as drummer and vocalist of Christian metalcore band UnderOath. These days he is the frontman of the Almost, touring drummer of Paramore, and someone who looks fondly back at a record that would change his life forever in 2004.

In a recent interview on the Voice & Verse Podcast, Gillespie shared his thoughts on the ten year anniversary of They're Only Chasing Safety and even said he would be down to tour the album one last time.

"I would do a ten anniversary tour without hesitation," he said on the podcast and then admitted that everyone's life now is in a different place.

10 years ago a fairly popular, but still struggling Christian band named UnderOath entered the studio to record They're Only Chasing Safety. They did not have much money, and were even dealing with the departure of their lead vocalist Dallas Taylor. Gillespie even recalled asking his mother for $50 so he could eat when they went to record.

Little did they know that this record would set the precedent for what their genre and scene would become as they helped kick start the sounds of countless bands since. From there the band's two singles, "Reinventing Your Exit" and "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door."

"Every time I look at that gold record on the wall I'm so thankful to God that I got to be a part of something that was era changing for myself," he said. "It changed our lives."
