45th Annual Dove Awards 2014 Winners and Performances Recap Part 1 [Play by Play]

Dove Awards

The 45th annual GMA Dove Awards aired last night, and BC was there when during the actual event on the 7th. Now that the event was televised on TBN, here is our play by play recap part 1.

The Newsboys opened the show with a performance of "God's Not Dead," before making way for the Song of the Year winner, Hillsong for their "Oceans [Where Feet May Fail]."

Next up was a southern gospel mash up performance that led into Karen Peck & New River's Southern Gospel Song of the Year, "Revival."

Erica Campbell and Lecrae then performed an emotional rendition of her song "Help" before giving way to "God's Not Dead" for Inspirational Film of the Year.

One Girl Nation performed "Vertical" and Tedashii followed by presenting the Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year to Hillsong for "Oceans." Kari Jobe then came out to perform her song "Forever."

The Contemporary Gospel/Urban Song of the Year went to Hezekiah Walker for "Every Praise." Then Trip Lee, Teshashi, KB, Andy Mineo, and Lecrae came out to do a 116 crew medley.

Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year went to Andy Mineo's Never Land before the husband wife team of Love & the Outcome performed. Mandisa then performed a high energy version of "Overcomer," that followed with her winning Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year.

A funny skit followed featuring the night's hosts, Lecrae and MercyMe's Bart Millard. Lecrae gave Bart a hype-man - the rapper Canon, and the MercyMe frontman made Lecrae rap with his group.

Meredith Andrews then came out with the Vertical Church band before a Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Hillsong Church.

MercyMe then performed "Greater" and were surprised to learn "I Can Only Imagine" had just surpassed two million downloads and they were honored for it.

Erica Campbell then was awarded the Traditional Gospel Song of the Year for "A Little More Jesus." Ellie Holcomb then performed "The Broken Beautiful."

Tomorrow we will have the second half of the show's recap. Be sure to check back with BREATHEcast.
