Singer/songwriter Mary-Kathryn recently performed "Psalm 91" from her latest Rhythm House Records CD, Dreams & Visions, on CBN's "The 700 Club," where she also shared her testimony and was interviewed by host Gordon Robertson. Enthusiastically received by the show, Robertson prefaced the interview by telling Mary-Kathryn, "I really love your album...I've got it in my iPod."
Following her "The 700 Club" appearance, Mary-Kathryn was asked to perform at the chapel service for the CBN staff. She also received scores of emails from viewers detailing the impact of her performance, and as a result, every existing copy of Dreams & Visions immediately sold out through the project's distributors-including general market distributor Burnside Distribution, CCM market distributor TAG Artist Group, CD Baby, Amazon.com and the store at CBN.com. Dreams & Visions landed in the Top 20 in the CCM and Gospel categories on Amazon.com for nearly a week after her "The 700 Club" appearance, hitting as high as #8. She has also been a regular fixture in the Top 100 Artists on MySpace.com in the ambient, fusion and Celtic categories.
A "musical missionary" with a calling as a psalmist, Mary-Kathryn intrigues audiences with her unique, free worship style, which incorporates dancing and singing in the Spirit. Blending elements of soft pop, rock and folk with world music influences, her latest CD, Dreams & Visions, paints word pictures on an aural canvas with exotic instrumentation, adroit production and lyrics that are nothing short of God-inspired. But as Billboard Magazine so aptly put it, "the most affecting instrument...is Mary-Kathryn's lovely voice."
While the album is infused with recurring themes of love, peace, faith, prayer and worship that are reflective of Mary-Kathryn's deeply held Christian faith, Dreams & Visions is also finding remarkable acceptance in the Adult Eclectic marketplace-a market Mary-Kathryn feels both compelled to go to and comfortable walking in. "After 12 years of ministering in the church, I really felt like a major change was coming," she explains. "God told me to 'go back to Egypt and bring deliverance to His people there.' When I asked Him what Egypt was, God told me 'the New Age.' I would never go in this direction unless I knew God was leading me. He has given me such favor with people who are not Christians, but who are seeking."
In addition to writing or co-writing most of the songs on Dreams & Visions, Mary-Kathryn also assumed co-producer responsibilities along with Paul Buono (Cherie Adams, Kelly Minter). Together Mary-Kathryn and Buono called on the world-class talents of Hugh Marsh (Dan Fogelberg, Bruce Cockburn) on violin, Fergus Marsh (Pierce Pettis, Steve Bell) on chapman stick and bass, Tony Morra (Van-Zant, Selah) on drums and percussion, and the angelic voices of Finnish vocal group Fire 4U. Tony Palacios (Guardian, Building 429) mixed the project at the world famous Sound Kitchen. Mary-Kathryn co-wrote the album's first single, "Incense of Praise," with producer Paul Buono and former Kansas lead vocalist and solo artist/producer John Elefante.
Mary-Kathryn's Dreams & Visions is available on Rhythm House Records and distributed by TAG Artist Group. For more information on Mary-Kathryn and her album, Dreams & Visions, visit www.mary-kathryn.com.
