Integrity Music Latin recently celebrated the win of their first Billboard Latin Music Award and also were honored to have four artists among the five nominees for Spanish Language Album for the 39th Annual Dove Awards.
The Billboard Latin Music Award for Christian/Gospel Album of the Year was presented to Integrity artist Danilo Montero for his CD Tu Amor (“Your Love”). The Awards ceremony, which was held at the Hard Rock Casino ballroom in Hollywood, Florida, recognizes outstanding artists and albums in a variety of categories. (PHOTO BELOW)
Montero, who resides in Texas, is also a speaker and an associate pastor for the Spanish-speaking congregation at Houston’s Lakewood Church. He is currently working on a new album due out in early 2009.
In addition to Montero’s win, Integrity’s best-selling collection Gotta Have Musica Cristiana - Volume 2 and artist Julissa (Rivera) both received nominations in the Christian/Gospel category. The Musica Cristiana album features a collection of songs from top Latin Christian artists including Montero, Julissa, Ingrid Rosario, Vertical, Marcos Witt and others.
Julissa received her Billboard nomination for the album Inolvidable (“Unforgettable”), a collection of historic songs of the Hispanic Church. A former winner of Mexico’s Premios Arpa Awards, Julissa has been signed with Integrity for two years. She is the host of the Gospel Music Channel’s “Espiritu Latino” program and recently served as a worship leader for the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., and for the Luis Palau festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Integrity Music Latin also distributes the Christian album Para Ti (“For You”) for Juan Luis Guerra who won three Billboard Latin awards this year for his mainstream album Llave de mi Corazoan (“Key of My Heart”).
“Juan was nominated in seven categories and each time he received an award, he first gave thanks to Jesus for blessing him with the honor,” said Mike Herron, Vice President of Integrity Music Latin.
In addition to the Billboard nods, four Integrity Music Latin artists were among the five nominees honored for Spanish Language Album of the Year at the 39th Annual Dove Awards. “It was an honor forour artists and our Latin American team to be recognized for their talent, hard work and faithful service to the Lord,” said Herron. The Dove Award nominees were: Danilo Montero for Tu Amor, Julissa for El Ritmo de La Vida (“The Rhythm of Life”), Jacobo Ramos for Bueno (“Good”) and Vertical for Invencible (“Invincible”). All four artists were able to attend the Dove Awards ceremony and, Julissa was given the honor of presenting the Dove Award for “Male Vocalist of the Year” to artist Toby Mac.
Jacobo Ramos, a native of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, is one of the most respected worship leaders in the Caribbean as well as a popular speaker on the subjects of worship and youth ministry. The pop/rock worship group Vertical is composed of lead singer Alejandro Quiroa, guitarist Carlos Castellanos and bassist Felipe Granados of Guatemala and drummer Carlos Cordon of Miami,Florida. The group is known throughout Latin America for their dynamic worship concerts featuring original Spanish songs as well as popular translated English worship songs.
