Multi-million-selling, GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning rock band Third Day received its third career GRAMMY today for the RIAA Gold certified Wherever You Are (11/1/05) in the Pop Contemporary Gospel Album category. From its seven previous nods, the band has been awarded GRAMMYs for both Wire (5/4/2004) and Come Together (10/17/01), each RIAA Certified Gold.
Caught up in the celebratory moment, a very thoughtful Tai Anderson offered, “Wherever You Are seemed to connect to our fans in a more meaningful way than any of our previous recordings. To have it be recognized by the GRAMMYs is an incredible affirmation for both the band and our fans.”
“I always say the cliché ‘it's great just to be nominated’. And it's true. But I tell you what, it sure is more fun to win! What an honor for us to win another Grammy! It doesn't get old!j” said Mac Powell.
Recently releasing its first Christmas worship album, Christmas Offerings (10/10/2006), and wrapping up a successful headlining tour on Nov. 19, the band is excited about kicking off 2007 with such momentum behind Chronology, Volume One (1996-2000) which drops March 27, followed by Chronology, Volume Two which hits retail, August 7.
Over the past decade, Third Day has amassed 24 No.1 radio singles and sold almost six million albums, with RIAA certifications including one Platinum record, one Platinum DVD, and six Gold records. The band has garnered 24 career Dove Awards, two GRAMMY Awards (from seven previous nominations), two consecutive American Music Award nods, multiple ASCAP honors, and has developed an historic partnership with Chevrolet. Third Day has maintained a touring record second-to-none by playing for audiences reaching into the millions. In addition to these many accolades, the band is most proud of its humanitarian efforts that include raising nearly $200,000 for the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita and encouraging over 15,000 fans to sponsor children across the globe through the work of World Vision.
