Simple/INO/Epic Records’ band The Afters were announced as the winners for the “Streaming Video” category of the 2005 mtvU Awards last night at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Band member Josh Havens accepted the award during the live taping of the awards, which will air on mtvU and mtvU.com on November 9.
The Afters’ video for “Beautiful Love” was voted by college students on mtvU.com winning the preliminarily rounds by eliminating artists such as Alicia Keys and Matisyahu. They went head to head in the final round beating Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance and Aesop Rock to win the category.
mtvU is the largest television network created specifically for college students. It is broadcasted to more than 700 colleges across the nation reaching 6.5 million students.
The Afters currently are touring with Jeremy Camp and Bethany Dillon on the Restored tour. They released their national debut project this year, I Wish We All Could Win. For more information on The Afters visit their website at
