Dove and Grammy Award-winning recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman recently wrapped up his "All Things New" tour in Raleigh, NC, to a crowd well over 10,000.
"Before this tour began, Mary Beth and I prayed that this would be a significant time in the life of each person God brought to be a part of this tour. It seems that prayer has been answered and God used this time in a very powerful way," Chapman says.
The 72-city nationwide tour featured songs from Chapman's current album, All Things New, as well as his hits from the past 17 years. Special performing guests for the tour were Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns, who "were simply sensational." (Ron Raymond, General Manager of WCTL in Erie, PA)
Throughout the entire tour, Chapman performed in front of nearly 350,000 fans with 16 sellouts and incredible crowds at every show, averaging 5,000 people a night. Sellouts were in markets such as Washington, D.C., Houston, Atlanta, Tulsa, Kansas City, Ft. Meyers, Little Rock, Lakeland, Knoxville, Greenville, Birmingham and Memphis. The show in Washington, D.C. sold out three weeks in advance, while Minneapolis and Houston both had capacity crowds of over 10,000 people and the New York City date had over 14,000 in attendance.
Sponsored by the Chapman family's Shaohannah's Hope adoption foundation, the tour has already raised around one million dollars to assist adopting families in need. All donations go towards Shaohannah's Hope and The Stevey Joy Club, where all contributions go to the adoption grant fund.
Chapman was amazed at the reaction towards Shaohannah's Hope during the tour. "We are overwhelmed and grateful for the incredible response to Shaohannah's Hope," he comments. "We could not have imagined this level of partnership and generosity and we're incredibly excited about how the lives of so many orphans will be changed."
