Award-winning Christian recording artist Sean Smith made an appearance on the worldwide television program
Hour of Power this week, performing the song "Called Because I Can" from his debut album,
REAL. Smith's performance can be viewed online at
HourofPower.org.
Originally released independently in 2005, healthy internet sales and strong reviews of Smith's debut led to a national release in March of 2007 through TAG Artist Group.
REAL entered Christian Retailing's Top 100 Music Chart at #2, on the heels of Smith's "Male Vocalist of the Year" win at the 2007 Momentum Awards. LifeWay selected
REAL as their first #1 New Music Release of 2007, with end-cap displays in all LifeWay stores nationwide.
REAL was produced by multiple Grammy & Dove Award winner Phil Naish (Stephen Curtis Chapman, Point of Grace, Michael Card, David Phelps), and mixed by Grammy Award winner Ronnie Brookshire. The project features an all-star list of musicians, including background vocals by Drew Cline, Lisa Bevill, and
American Idol finalists Mandisa and Melinda Doolittle. Smith wrote or co-wrote nine of the 10 songs on
REAL. Of those, six were co-written with Naish and Lowell Alexander, who has 10 #1 singles, and 11 gold and platinum albums for songs recorded by the likes of Amy Grant, Point of Grace, 4Him, and Sandy Patti.
Now in its 37th year, Robert Schuller’s
