Kirk Franklin News, On the Road for an Audience of One
That's the theme for the Southwest Soul Circuit - Social Services Tour 2008. The presence of God saturated the Mesa Arts Center in Arizona on Sunday April 27th. The artists lineup included Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum producer Madukwu Chinwah, sax man Ron Brown, 2006 Gospel Dream finalist Tinika Wyatt, Tim Clifton, Kristie Kirk, Kevin Hamilton and Terrance James. The concert covered genres of music for all musical tastes from jazz, worship, urban, contemporary to traditional gospel. You were bound to find the flavor of music that suited your tastes at this memorable event.

The concert started with DJ Rueben C of San Diego spinning on the turntable mixing songs by Mary Mary, Dietrick Haddon, Kirk Franklin, and so on. With him you couldn't help but to "head nod."

When saxophonist Ron Brown from Austin, TX shared his testiomony of how he played with notable artists like Whitney Houston, Ella Fitgerald, Natalie Cole, and Stevie Wonder just to name a few, you could sense that, when he played, his resume didn't define him. After he played a melodic tune called "Talkin' Bout Jesus Christ", he shared with us that he "Already played with the rest and now he plays with the Best." There was no questioning who "the Best" was.

Tinika Wyatt from Los Angeles by way of San Diego ushered you into the presence of God with "I Can Only Imagine". Then she sang "What" inspired by the scripture verses in Romans 8: 28-39. We truly are more than conquerors. Her song "When I Think" impelled you to think about His goodness and all that He has done.

Another up and coming urban artist from Dallas, TX came on the stage. Her name is Kristie Kirk and she sang songs of encouragement, hope and the love of God. With her soulful upbeat tunes you couldn't sit in your seat for long. She helped to you remember that God keeps loving you and His love never changes. How encouraging!

Also from Dallas, TX, Tim Clifton who is a Worship Pastor and the leader of a group of worshippers called "Purpose" ministered a song called "Thank You", which reminded one of how much God does for us, whether we know it or not. The sounds of his acoustic and bass guitar sang to you as you remembered God's grace and mercy.

Grammy Award winner Madukwu Chinwah sang songs about love. His peaceful voice, inspired and uplifted you.
