Two Rivers Baptist Church was filled with sounds of hope Tuesday, September 13th as passionate Christian recording artists Avalon, ZOEgirl, Natalie Grant, The Katina’s, Building 429 and American Idol’s George Huff took the stage in a benefit show to bring aid to those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

As BREATHEcast previously reported, the show was supported by not only artists, but by the local radio stations including the morning shows on 94 FM The Fish, WNAZ FM, and The Brian Mason Show.

“We are all so encouraged by the amazing turnout and the way that the music and radio community came together so quickly to help these folks who so desperately need the help right here, right now,” explains Jody McBrayer of Avalon.

The night was filled with music, prayer, support, and funding for those who lost so much in the wake of the storm. The audience even included some of the faces of those who had evacuated to Nashville from the gulf.

The success of the night brought $12,000 in aid as well as donations of soap, toothpaste, shampoo, personal grooming items, clothing and other essentials. All proceeds went directly to the Tennessee Baptist Convention Relief Fund and the Nashville Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The night was truly a testament to the amazing hearts of Christians across the nation who wish to support others that are in need.
