I Will Not Be Moved(Natalie Grant)
I wrote this song as my statement of faith. Life is a journey of ups and downs. We live and learn, and in spite of our mistakes, God never stops pursuing us. And no matter what this culture is telling us – how to act, how to look, what to believe – this is my resolution: I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And though I may get bumped and bruised along the way, I will not be moved.

In Better Hands(Catt Gravitt, Jim Daddario, Thom Hardwell)
This song was written for Ethan. During Thanksgiving of 2006, this precious little boy was at a bonfire at his grandparents’ farm when a spark caught his sweater west on fire, burning 85% of his body. As a new mother, I can’t fathom something happening to one of my babies. Some have outward scars and many have scars on their heart – scars we can’t see – but there is One who sees, and when He looks at Ethan – and when He looks at us – He sees promise, and beauty, and destiny. There is no better place to be than in the hands of God as He is carrying each one of us.

Make It Matter(Natalie Grant, Bernie Herms, Matthew West)
This song is really the heart of what I want this album to be about: encouraging the listener to find Hope in the midst of life’s difficulties and rise above – soaring like the eagles – making each moment count. I want to motivate people to live their lives on purpose and with intent, making it matter.

Back At My Heart(Natalie Grant, Bernie Herms, Matthew West)
This is the most honest lyric on the album. I struggle with great personal insecurities, and these words are the cry of my heart. Underneath all of the pretending and the hiding, I am desperate for God. I know that as I draw near to Him, He will draw near to me, which is the heart of the matter.

Let Go (Natalie Grant, Ben Glover, Shaun Shankel)
I’m such a type-A personality. I always have a plan; I always want to see what’s ahead; I want to know exactly where I’m going. But to live a life of faith, we have to learn to let go of worries, the past and the future. We need to live in the moment, give up control, close our eyes, and jump.

Perfect People(Jason Barton, Sam Mizell, Matthew West)
Often we are so interested in the lives of the rich and famous, their airbrushed perfection staring back at us from virtually every magazine cover. But the truth is , there’s no such thing as perfect people. No matter how hard we try to look a certain way or strive for success, we will only ever find contentment in a relationship with our perfect God. And we can come just as we are with our dirt, shame and mess, and He makes something beautiful out of it.

Our Hope Endures(Christa wells, Natalie Grant)
This very honest lyric was written for a woman greatly struggling with cancer. Life so often doesn’t make sense, and I can relate to the Psalmist when he wonders why the wicked prosper and the righteous suffer. But our Hope endures the worst of conditions. We server and everlasting, all-knowing, all-sufficient God; our El – Shaddai, our Emmanuel; our only Hope in this life.

So Long(Natalie Grant)
I wrote this song as a fun, sassy reminder that in Christ, all things are made new. That’s so easy to forget, because we are often imprisoned by our past. Past mistakes and failures keep us from moving forward and we’re caught in habits we wonder if we can ever break. That’s how I felt for so long. I was sick of believing the lie and decided to say, “So long old me, hello new me.”

Wonderful Life (Shaun Shankel, Trina Harmon)
So often we are looking to tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next year. We are looking ahead, trying to figure out how we can accomplish our goals and dreams, yet we often miss the moments of today and the blessing we have just to be alive and to be loved. This song reminds me to stop the striving and enjoy my wonderful husband and beautiful daughters and embrace the life that God has so blessed me with.

Safe(Tiffany Arbuckle-Lee, Shaun Shankel, Tyler Hayes)
On the “Revolve Tour,” I sing to so many teenage girls who are struggling. When I recorded this song, I saw their faces and remembered their stories. We don’t have to hide; we don’t need to cut ourselves to numb the pain; or starve ourselves to be accepted. In Christ we have a safe place, a place we can always run, a place where we are accepted “as is”-there is no return policy. Christ is never going to give us back, but He accepts us unconditionally and loves us through our brokenness.

Make a Way(Brittany’s Song) (Natalie Grant)
I have been a part of the “Revolve Tour” – a conference for girls 12-18 years old – for the past three years. It has been a life-changing experience for thousands of girls, and also for me. Brittany was a girl that stood out to me in particular. When she was 17, her parents allowed her to accept a modeling contract, moving her to New York City. Having no friends, she joined an online community and found herself in a chat room where she met a guy. They would eventually meet in Brittany’s heart. She was home for a break and her mother brought her to the “Revolve Tour,” where she heard me speak and sing. God transformed her life and now she is in college studying counseling, believing once again that she has a future. No matter what we’ve done or what has been done to us, there’s no place that’s too far. God will reach us wherever we are, and He always makes a way.

In Christ Alone(Keith Getty, Stuart Townend)
I have always loved this song. I think the lyrics sound as if the Psalmist, King David, could have written them. It is the Christian theology in a nutshell. I thought it was a perfect way to bookend my recording and want it to be the last statement people take away.
