New Video from Michael W. Smith - 'Healing Rain'

Michael W. Smith recently got caught in a spring shower, but it was entirely manmade. The music superstar was in downtown Franklin, Tenn. shooting a video version of his hit single "Healing Rain," the title track from his best-selling CD.
Mark Cowart, producer of the video, said the song and the clip are about "a heavenly rain that heals emotionally scarred characters in a small town." That required a special effects crew to remain on call to douse the street scene with a torrent of rain. MORE |

Multiple GRAMMY-winning artist *Michael W. Smith's* /*Healing Rain*/, his first pop-oriented studio project since 1999, debuted at No.1 this week on Nielsen SoundScan's Top Christian Albums chart and Top Current Contemporary Christian chart, with a total of 54,520 units scanned.
The highly-anticipated project also lands this week at No. 11 on /Billboard's/ Top 200 Albums chart.

Smith, whose pen, piano and searing vocals have helped define contemporary Christian music in his career that has spanned more than two decades, has stepped out on faith to minister in a new light.
It is the spotlight of a leading role in "The Second Chance," a film slated for release in September 2005.
"We hope to be involved throughout the year with a grassroots approach and play this movie for the people, a lot like Mel Gibson did," Smith said earlier this week in a phone interview from Nashville.
Set to be distributed by New Market Films, which distributed Gibson's "Passion of the Christ," "The Second Chance" will be what Smith calls a spiritual mainstream movie with a message of redemption.
"It is a great story," Smith said of the movie written by Steve Taylor, Chip Arnold and Ben Pearson. "I can't wait for people to see it."MORE |

Rocketown recording artist Ginny Owens is set to release a new live album on May 3. The project, Live from New Orleans, was recorded last fall in the French Quarter House of Blues and will offer live versions of past Owens' hits in addition to two new songs.
