Michael W. Smith recently got caught in a spring shower, but it was entirely manmade. The music superstar was in downtown Franklin, Tenn. shooting a video version of his hit single "Healing Rain," the title track from his best-selling CD.
Mark Cowart, producer of the video, said the song and the clip are about "a heavenly rain that heals emotionally scarred characters in a small town." That required a special effects crew to remain on call to douse the street scene with a torrent of rain.
Michael's oldest son Ryan, screen writer and director, created the vision for and directed the music video produced through his film company Seabourne Pictures.
The video clip coincides with the first leg of Michael's "Healing Rain" tour, which kicks off April 7th in San Antonio and winds up May 22nd in Memphis (see reunionrecords.com for complete tour listings).
