Kirk Franklin News, Matthew West Has Nothing To Say In New Documentary
Nothing To Say, a new documentary chronicling Sparrow singer/songwriter Matthew West’s season of silence, is now available exclusively at Family Christian Stores nationwide in a special CD+DVD version of his critically acclaimed best-selling new release, Something to Say.

Nothing To Say was produced and directed by Benjamin Eisner, whose credits include video projects for Kirk Franklin, TobyMac and Relient K, among other artists. The documentary begins as West enters Nashville’s Vanderbilt Voice Center in May of 2007 for vocal chord surgery and highlights his recovery process—including the communication challenges he faced during weeks of medically mandated vocal silence—concluding with footage from West’s emotional return to the studio and stage.

“We decided to start filming when I learned I would need to have surgery,” West says. “I found myself in an uncertain place, fearing a possibility I might never sing again. But I wanted to document the experience to allow others to walk through it with me, believing the end result would bring hope and encouragement to those facing unexpected challenges in life.”

Something To Say, West’s highly anticipated third studio recording and first project in more than two years, released last month and was the highest debut, at #7, on Nielsen SoundScan’s Christian Retail chart for the week ending January 20. Produced by Brown Bannister, Ed Cash and Christopher Stevens, the album is West’s Sparrow Records debut and his most personal project to date.

“You Are Everything,” the album’s debut single, is a multi-format hit currently landing at #2 on R&R’s Christian AC National Airplay chart. The song is also #3 on R&R’s Christian Soft AC/Inspo National Airplay chart and #18 on R&R’s Christian CHR National Airplay chart.

West is a special guest on the AT&T sponsored “Boomin’ Beyond Measure” Tour with TobyMac and Jeremy Camp. Kicking-off last week in San Antonio, Texas, the Tour is slated to hit Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Denver and Minneapolis, among other cities, before concluding in late March.
