GMA Music Week 2008 attendees and performers turned Fuel bar and night club, located in downtown Nashville into a house of worship on Monday night during the Dog & Pony Show 2008. Artists of all genres stopped by, showcasing their ministries in a revolving door setup of one artist after another. Beginning at 5pm and ending late into the night, The Dog and Pony Show, hosted by Tammy Trent featured newer artists like Rynn as well as veterans like Martha Munizzi.

As unusual as it may be to hear pop, southern gospel, hip hop, and praise and worship all in one sitting audience members and artist alike didn’t seem to mind as they tapped their feat to Co3, pumped their fists with Lacrae and Tedashii, and then danced and raised hands in worship with Martha Munizzi. Munizzi put it best as she came after Lacrae, saying “I love the music booming from this place tonight…It all has the same message, which is Jesus Christ.”

A sense of embrace and love for each other, not only as fellow artists but as members in the body of Christ was seen throughout the evening as artist participated and encouraged each other. Lisa McClendon took a moment to enjoy praise and worship, as Munizzi performed songs from her new project before going on herself. Host Tammy Trent even gave a little taste of her skills as an MC and she broke out into a pretty impressive beat box and rap, joking that she still couldn’t understand why other Christian hip hopers didn’t see her potential.

The audience couldn’t get enough and keep crying out “anybody want to praise with me”, along with Canton Jones and other members of Gumbo Red, including Lisa McClendon, Mr. Del and Ramona Jones. They had to return for an encore, but Jones insisted that if they were going to do it again everyone would have to stand up and get involved. He was going to have a good time and be free; praising the Lord in spirit and in truth, as he pointed out earlier, “Since I’m not drinking tonight I might as well get drunk, but on the real spirits.”

It was obvious that everyone came out to have fun and enjoy not only music but the freedom of the spirit of the lord. Some of the other artists featured at The Dog and Pony Show 2008 were Carried Away, David and Nicole Binion, Washington Projects, Myron Williams, Joanne Cash and more!
