Tens of thousands of people from different spiritual backgrounds are filling up campsites, RVs, and hotels as Kingdom Bound Christian music festival takes place August 5-8, 2007, at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort in Darien Center, New York, near Buffalo. Kingdom Bound, one of North America’s largest and longest running events of its kind, typically attracts about sixty-five thousand people from all over the United States and Canada for four days of faith-filled concerts and seminars.
With four stages, Kingdom Bound’s concerts include a diverse group of artists, with styles ranging from blues to hard rock and pop to hip-hop. Headliners at this year’s festival include Casting Crowns, TobyMac, and Newsboys. College-crowd favorites Charlie Hall, David Crowder, and Chris Tomlin are also part of this year’s line-up. Artists making their first appearance at Kingdom Bound include Aaron Shust, Red, Group 1 Crew, and Decemberadio. Returning favorites include Paul Baloche, Rick Cua, The Afters, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, Geoff Moore and The Distance, Will McFarlane, and Skillet, among many others. Confirmed speakers include Reggie Dabbs, Jeremy Kingsley, Bob Lenz, Ken Freeman, and abstinence advocate Pam Stenzel.
This year, Enemy Opposition, a group of young skaters and BMX bike riders, will appear near the park’s Midway Stage, demonstrating their skills, while Xmproductions, a teen drama group from Oklahoma, will perform at various places throughout the festival, illustrating spiritual themes through music, dance, and elaborate costumes.
Through the financial help of sponsors and donors, Kingdom Bound’s “Send-a-Friend” program will enable eight hundred kids who are either disabled or come from impoverished areas to have a day of fun on August 7 at the festival at no cost to them.
