Kevin Max-a four-time Grammy award winner, and member of the Christian powerhouse group dcTalk-will be featured today, October 10, 2005, on XM Radio's "The Torch." For 12 consecutive hours, music from Max's new album The Imposter, as well as a taste of his past musical efforts will be available for listening. Interview clips will also air throughout the day.
"I think Kevin Max is one of the most creatively expressive artists in modern Christian music," exclaims XM 31- The Torch Music Director Thomas Kenny. His new recording, The Imposter is diverse proof. From the time The Torch went live in September 2001, we have fully featured a large portion of Kevin's solo work because there is a depth, passion and powerful holy heart behind the rock-n-roll. Kevin's musical style is easily recognizable and set apart in an entertainment world cluttered with bands without vocal melody and rock songs that grab you. Kevin Max makes music to the power of X."
The Imposter CD which releases tomorrow - October 11, 2005 on Northern Records, offers up 12 songs plus a bonus track, and gives music lovers an experience that is incisive, artistic, and uncompromising. "The idea of 'the imposter' comes from Brennan Manning's books, The Ragamuffin Gospel and Abba's Child," Max says. "dcTalk did weekend retreats with Brennan, and we'd get to talk. He'd explain that 'the imposter' is in all of us-it's that fleshly part that isn't willing to give up the ghost, that part that wants to take over the spirit in us. That's what the album is about-the fight between the flesh and the spirit."
The project is the long-awaited follow-up to Max's first solo album, Stereotype Be (Forefront/EMI CMG) and comes on the heels of the Between the Fence and the Universe EP that was recently made available independently. Max is also the author of two poetry books - At the Foot of Heaven (Star Publishing Group) and Detritus of Dorian Grey (Blind Thief Publishing). As a member of dcTalk, Max enjoyed more than 8 million records sold worldwide and the Top 40 pop hit, "Just Between You and Me," (Virgin), which received significant airplay on VH1 and MTV.
