Gospel luminaries are gearing up and hearing to the Washington, DC Convention Center, February 28-March 3, 2007 to celebrate the nation’s largest and most prestigious Gospel music celebration during Black History Month.
Opening the conference on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, will be a musical presentation at a local church sponsored by GHF media partner, WPGC Radio Station (Washington, DC). Then, on Thursday, March 1, 2007 (9am, CeCe Winans will serve as keynote speaker. Winans is one of the most dynamic and stable artists in the Gospel genre; her career has been recognized with Grammy, Stellar and Dove Awards. Later, on Thursday night, Pastor Donnie McClurkin will serve as a keynote speaker, with musical guests, Martha Munizzi and Tye Tribett & Greater Anointing.
Kicking off the next morning (March 2, 2007) of the conference, Bishop Larry Trotter will address GHF delegates. Trotter is the presider of the United Churches of Christ denomination and pastors the Sweet Holy Spirit Baptist Church of Chicago, IL.
Later that evening, history will again be made with the annual Gospel Heritage Awards. Gospel fans will gather and delight as many of their favorite artists are celebrated and saluted including: Pastor Hezekiah Walker, The Clark Sisters, Rev. James Cleveland (posthumously).
The final Saturday (March 3, 2007) of the conference promises to be one of the conference’s most inspirational. The morning will begin with Pastor Marvin Sapp, of Grand Rapids, MI, serving as keynote speaker. As a Gospel artist, Sapp tops the charts, as a pastor—he is even more amazing!
While all Heritage weekend activities will certainly appeal to those in every age bracket, GHF is showing its love for tomorrow’s leaders by putting particular focus on today’s youth. The Youth Division will focus on helping young people maximize their potential as creative forces to lead as politicians, businesspeople, educators, entertainers or religious leaders. On Saturday at midday, a panel led by Min. Kirk Franklin will explore ways to help ministries and churches serve young people more effectively. Later that evening, Franklin will serve as keynote speaker with a sizzling high-energy youth explosion!
