Casting Crowns, one of Christian music’s top-selling artists, recently celebrated the RIAA Gold certification of its DVD/CD project Lifesong Live (10/3/2006). This marks the group’s fourth project to receive RIAA honors including its RIAA Platinum self-titled debut, the RIAA Platinum DVD Live From Atlanta and its Gold-certified sophomore album Lifesong.
Lifesong Live debuted No.1 on the Nielsen SoundScan Top Christian Music Videos chart and at No. 5 on the overall Top Music Videos chart. The two-disc set features live performances and in-depth, behind-the-scenes footage shot during Casting Crowns’ “Lifesong Tour” which tallied more than 357,000 fans in attendance, 43,000 salvation responses, and ranked as one of the top 100 tours in the country according to Pollstar Magazine (06/2006). The DVD also showcases the band’s latest music video, “Does Anybody Hear Her.
The success of Lifesong Live underscores the continuous impact the band has had over its past three-year career. The band won its first GRAMMY for its sophomore studio album Lifesong, and was named Group of the Year for the second consecutive year at the 37th Annual Gospel Music Awards. Casting Crowns has been the most played artist on all Christian radio formats combined with six No.1 radio hits, and the group has sold more than 2.3 million albums to date. Lead singer and songwriter Mark Hall has been a student pastor for 15 years and currently serves on staff at Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church in Atlanta.
