Formed in Flint, Michigan in 1956, the Calvarymen Quartet has been a driving force in southern gospel music. With present day members Darrell Young-Bass, Barry Maust-Lead, Mark Jacoby-Baritone, and Randy Lewis-Tenor, these men continue to minister thru music. Their style of music may have changed a little, but the message is still as powerful today, as it was 50 years ago.

For 27 years, the Calvarymen represented Michigan at the National Quartet Convention, which is home to the nations top names in southern gospel music. They are regularly featured on the television network Gospel Music Television, as well as radio stations across the U.S. On the website Radioactive airplay which is a charting system for gospel music, the Calvarymen had the #1 Christmas song for 2006, and the #2 southern gospel song for the month of December, 2006

In 1976, the Michigan State Senate declared by official resolution the Calvarymen Quartet to be “Michigan’s Ambassadors of Goodwill”. More recently, the 35th ward of the city of Chicago declared by official resolution, August 14, 2006 to be “Calvarymen Quartet Sunday” by Alderman - Rey Colon.

Together these men bring a love for the Lord that spills out in their performances. If you love tight harmonies, accapella singing, and traditional southern gospel, then A Calvarymen concert is just for you. You will see that worshiping the Lord can be a fun experience, and that God is still in the business of touching, healing, and changing lives.

Every quality quartet needs a solid low end and the harmonizing bass voice of Darrell Young is just that. Having listened from his early teen years to many of gospel music's greatest, it's no wonder he's often compared with many of them. Darrell lives in Flint, MI with his wife Joy. The Calvarymen office is located in his home where he also serves as the group’s booking agent. First performances of singing the gospel were at the age of 4 while standing on a chair at church. He started his first quartet in 1975 at his home church, Central Church of Nazarene in Flint, MI. He enjoys an occasional hunting trip in the fall, one fishing trip in the summer and exercise which includes officiating basketball. Darrell has been a member of the Calvarymen since December of 1997
A complete southern gospel quartet needs a baritone voice that blends the group’s sound together and the Calvarymen have a great one in Mark Jacoby. This man with a big heart and a big voice resides in Unionville, MI with his wife Deana and two children, Amanda and Joshua. Mark is one of the nations few full-time crop farmers and is especially busy during planting and harvesting seasons while being on the road ministering with the Calvarymen. Mark sang with his father Cliff in the "Praise Quartet" for ten years before becoming the Calvarymen baritone. Mark joined the Calvarymen in January of 2000.

Randy Lewis, first tenor, rejoins the Calvarymen after a 4 year hiatus. During his time away Randy traveled full time with the Toney Brothers of Nashville, for 2 years. After that, he has filled in with such groups as Palmetto State, the Booth Brothers, the Melody Boys, Kevin Spencer and friends, and the Blackwood Gospel Quartet. Randy lives in Clio, Mi. with his wife Denise, and children Kaitlyn, Malorie, and Bryce. Randy states " It sure is good to be back where I belong. Right here with Michigan's Greatest Qt. the Calvarymen."
