Bethany's introspective approach Bethany is young and she's writing...and she's getting a lot of attention for it. Her initial albums were fresh and enjoyable. Her most recent album Imagination is a pleasant listen and, spiritually speaking, is encouraging and uplifting. However, seems like she was a bit preasured and pressed for time on this one...I know she didn't write all the songs completely on her own, but the musical stylings and tunes seem kinda redundant after a while. The best songs on this album are probably: Dreamer, All That I Can Do, and New. This CD is definitely worth buying, but I don't think it's the best thing she's ever done. (I liked it enough to get the songbook.)
Now, about the artist herself, she's a young woman with a maturity beyond her years (if you didn't know it you would think you were listening to a 25 year old woman singing) and her passion for God is strong. I respect Bethany and am excited to hear more of her Psalm-like-lyric approach in the future. |
