Legendary R&B artist and Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, has strong roots in gospel music and hosted her third old-fashioned revival in Detroit this past weekend. With a strong line-up of artists, Franklin held the revival over three days, from June 14th – June 16th, at her home church, the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, in Detroit, performing both Friday and Saturday nights.
Malaco Music Group artists invited to participate in this faith strengthening event were evangelist Dorothy Norwood (Malaco Records) and the legendary Christianaires(Marxan), with Paul Porter. La Shun Pace and the Anointed Pace Sisters, formerly with Savoy Records, also performed.
The remaining line-up of artists and evangelists from across the nation was equally impressive: Grammy winner, Pastor Smoky Norful, Cissy Houston (Whitney
Houston’s mother), evangelist Ruby Terry, Rev. Edgar Vann Jr., the Reverend Jim Holley, Micah Stampley, and Zie’l, among others.
